How to prepare for an interview

Preparing for an interview can be incredibly stressful, especially if it is a job that you would love to get. There are a number of things that you can do to help you feel as confident and comfortable as you can on the interview day.

Prepare – make sure that you have read the job description and person specification in detail. These are prepared by the company or the procurement recruitment agency that they work with, to allow them to assess your ability and suitability for the role. So think about examples of work you have completed in the past that fits in with their requirements. Make the most of the information that finding a good candidate or the company gives you.

Research – as well as looking through the job requirements you should also do some research into the company. There is usually always an opportunity at the end of an interview for you to ask them some questions. By researching the company you will be able to ask them specific questions and it helps to show them that you have come prepared and are keen to work for them.

Practice – there are lots of examples of interview questions online and it is always worth taking a look through some of them and thinking about what kinds of answers you would give. This will allow you to see the kinds of variations of questions that are used and give you a chance to think about the responses calmly.
